O escritor e editor franco-americano André Schiffrin é ex-editor da Pantheon e fundador da editora independente The New Press. Nesta entrevista do programa Roda Viva, ele fala sobre o mercado editorial atual. Também apresenta um panorama da literatura no mundo de hoje.
Nascido em 1935, em Paris, Schiffrin foi durante 30 anos editor-chefe da Pantheon Books, em Nova York. Desgostoso com os novos rumos do mercado após a inserção da editora no cenário do capitalismo financeiro das multinacionais, ele abandonou a casa em 1990 para fundar uma editora sem fins lucrativos, a The New Press.
No Brasil, possui dois livros publicados: O negócio dos livros: como as grandes corporações decidem o que você lê (Casa da Palavra) e O dinheiro e as palavras (Bei Editora).
